Rick Weber is founder and President of Materials Development, Inc (MDI), and is an Argonne Associate at the Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Laboratory. MDI develops advanced glass products and instrumentation for non-equilibrium processing and work on materials in extreme conditions. MDI installed and operates high temperature Conical Nozzle Levitators at beamlines at the Advanced Photon Source and the Spallation Neutron Source. These systems enable non-contact in situ diffraction and spectroscopy on materials at temperatures up to 3500 degrees centigrade in controlled atmospheres. MDI single-axis acoustic levitators are installed in laboratories around the world for investigation of pharmaceutical and organic materials in non-equilibrium conditions.
